Examples of abstract/conceptual work done in my painting studio in San Francisco. They represent another creative

outlet and a break from my usually more representational commissioned artwork and digital matte painting work.

 

The Panaceas series are mixed media works created using found objects placed in gelatin capsules, mounted in

plexiglas. I began dabbling with the idea of self image, desire & fulfillment, and the connection to biological mutation 

and the medical cure-all back in 1998, although the pieces shown here were all done between 2008-2011. 

  

The Bloodletters series (below) incorporate vintage prepared microscope slides containing blood specimens

dating from the 1960's, mounted on painted linen-covered wood panels set under plexiglas.
